About BoliviaWatch

"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth-persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." -- John F. Kennedy

BoliviaWatch offers regular roundups and a bi-weekly analysis of news from and about Bolivia and Latin America. It is designed for journalists, academics and opinion leaders. BoliviaWatch endeavors to bring sound research, objective analysis, and diverse accounts of public opinion to the discussion of controversial topics that are currently debated in the country as well as those that impact the whole of Latin American.

With the growing process of globalization and ever-expanding information technology communications, the daily reality of Latin America and, in particular, the situation in Bolivia seems to blur away. It is true that the objectivity of the facts may be misinterpreted for quick political gain. But what concerns us more is that oversimplification does not become a substitute for understanding.

BoliviaWatch believes that our public deserves a journalism that is penetrating and discerning. This is why we are committed to provide information and analyses that go beyond the clichés and easy generalizations that plague coverage of Bolivia and Latin America today.
